Noel Gevers has been an
active player in the central PA music scene since 1990. As
a pianist, acoustic guitarist, and vocalist, he has been
performing solo at small clubs and restaurants around the
area for the past two decades. Currently he plays regularly
at Carley’s Italian Restaurant and Piano Bar in Harrisburg.
In addition to
performing live, Noel has also had extensive experience in
recording and production. His production credits include
Glenn Hamilton’s first effort, Skyline Sessions, on which he
contributed piano, organ, backing vocals, as well as
engineering, mixing and mastering the project. He also
co-produced and performed on Ray Solinski’s effort, Pieces
of the American Dream, also providing keyboards and backing
vocals.
Noel writes and
performs his own songs, as well as those of other artists.
Ray Solinski recorded and released two of Noel’s songs on
his second CD, Uncovered and Unplugged.
Influenced heavily by
singer/songwriters like James Taylor, Sting, Bruce Hornsby,
Noel also draws influence from Jazz artists including Miles
Davis, McCoy Tyner, and Bob James. He credits his most
important influence with also being his favorite band,
Steely Dan for their fusion of jazz, R & B, and inspired
songwriting.
In the M80’s Noel
provides the signature keyboard riffs on his Korg 01W that
helped define the tunes of that gone, but not forgotten,
decade.
